*Tentatively, if you are traveling (flying or long drive) to make the San Jose reception, we are planning a New Year's Eve Party at the Koch's house the night before the reception for you as well. Two events for the travel cost of one!

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE BRIDE AND GROOM:

We originally met very briefly through our mutual friend Chad Mitchell, who was working on the Vans Warped Tour (a traveling rock'n'roll Summer festival) while Dan's band, Sherwood, was playing it that summer. Jaffrey and a friend were visiting Chad at the Seattle date (at the Gorge) who introduced them to Dan, who promptly tried to sell them some Sherwood merchandise (to no avail!). They talked for a few minutes, exchanged some contact info, and kept in touch online via MySpace for a couple months. On September 23rd, 2006, Dan finally got Jaffrey to come out to one of his band's concerts in Anaheim, and after spending some time together for the next 3 days, the wheels were set in motion.

Almost 3 years later, while at dinner with John & Jamie Bagge, the couple received their blessing to get engaged. Jaffrey had brought John a late Father's Day gift, and Dan pretended to have one for him as well. As he brought it out, he said, "I lied -- it's actually something for Jaffrey." It was a small Japanese teapot she had seen at an Asian market a few months back, and Jaffrey was delighted, but still suspected nothing, as she showed her parents and adored the tiny blue teapot. "Maybe you should look inside," said Dan, and as she opened it and saw the ring, Dan got down on one knee and asked Jaffrey right there in front of John & Jamie. Needless to say, she said, "Yes!"

SEATTLE FOOD/COFFEE IDEAS:

Sodo Park is located in a relatively mild, primarily industrial area, south of Downtown, with little around it in the way of enjoyable dining or sightseeing. Just south about 2-3 mi is Georgetown, the easiest and quickest to get to of the following areas. It is small, post-industrial and arty. Great coffee and food, as well as a couple cool art galleries and a Vespa shop.

Northeast you'll find the International District (inexpensive sandwiches, Pho, etc), and above that is Capitol Hill, the hip artsy center of Seattle. Restaurants and interesting shops are everywhere here, but it can get a little grungy.

A farther drive north, through downtown and over the bridges, takes you to Fremont and Ballard -- these are classy neighborhoods, but full of culture, great food, and are very pleasant to walk. Below are a few of our favorite restaurants and coffee shops; check them out if you have some free time while you are visiting!

Saigon Deli‎ (Int'l District) -- where else can you get a tasty grilled pork or tofu sandwich for $2.50? This is the cheapest eat on our list; if you're on a budget, it's money well spent, and delicious!
1237 S Jackson St # E
Seattle, WA 98144-1908
(206) 322-3700‎

Stellar Pizza & Ale‎ (Georgetown) -- "our place" more or less, since it's near where Dan currently lives, this place has great pizza, a wonderful (and huge) mediterranean salad, and fun atmosphere.
5513 Airport Way S
Seattle, WA 98108-2202
(206) 763-1660‎

All City Coffee‎ (Georgetown) -- great coffee and a fun atmosphere (they have a few stools whose sole support between the base and seat is a giant spring), comfortable and un-crowded.
1205 S Vale St
Seattle, WA‎

Victrola Coffee (Capitol Hill) -- you just can't beat the coffee here.
310 E Pike St
Seattle, WA 98122-3610

Odd Fellows Cafe (Capitol Hill) -- we especially recommend this for Breakfast/Brunch, but they also have a good dinner menu and AMAZING french fries. Atmosphere is top notch, as it's an old, re-decorated Odd Fellows hall. Don't miss out on Molly Moon's ice cream, located in the same building, but around the corner. Open late.
1525 10th Ave
Seattle, WA 98122-3806
(206) 325-0807‎

The Other Coast Cafe (Ballard) -- this place has Dan's all-time #1 favorite sandwich in the world, the Ragin' Cajun. If you aren't a vegetarian, you owe it to yourself to get at least one in your lifetime.
5315 Ballard Ave NW
Seattle, WA 98107-4061
(206) 789-0936‎

La Carta de Oaxaca (Ballard) -- the best mexican food in Seattle; it's Oaxacan Mexican, not Tijuana/California Mexican, although they do still serve burritos, etc. This place fills up quick on weekends, so get here early. Worth the wait!
5431 Ballard Ave NW
Seattle, WA 98107-4052

Verite Coffee/Cupcake Royale (Ballard) - great coffee, great cupcakes, all in one building. All 3 Ballard locations are within 2-3 blocks of each other.
